Increase Sales by Right-Sizing Inventory
Do you have a growing backlog of unshipped orders? Do you have too much inventory for slow-selling product, while you have too little inventory of what your customers want right now? Is the sales organization complaining because customers aren’t receiving their orders on time? If these sound familiar, you may have a problem balancing inventory levels and sales demand and we can help.
When manufacturing does not keep up with demand, sales suffer. This can be caused by a myriad of factors including unreliable equipment, shortage of qualified personnel, or inventory shortages resulting in idle bottlenecks. Our solution addresses two of the primary culprits of sub-performance sales levels: when bottleneck operations are idle because of the lack of inventory, or when sales are lost because of inadequate inventory.
Unique Pull-Based Lean Approach
Leveraging the Invistics methodology, our consultants will help you achieve the perfect balance between inventory, cycle times, sales and customer service. The Invistics methodology blends proven Lean principles adapted to high-mix environments with key components of Six Sigma supported by the company’s patented MachSix software suite which offers advanced optimization, analytics and simulation capabilities.
First, our consultants will work with you through the pull design workshop to design a pull strategy that defines the bottlenecks that are limiting throughput and adjusts inventory to feed them accordingly. This strategy is then implemented using the Pull Manager and Inventory Advisor modules of the MachSix software suite. The Pull Manager is capable of implementing Drum-Buffer-Rope and other pull techniques to prevent the starving of bottleneck operations. The Inventory Advisor module shows component shortages and signals when critical parts or ingredients need to be replenished to prevent downtime in assembly or production.
Your goal is to ship more products on time with the least amount of inventory and maximize your returns and customer satisfaction. Ours is to help you balance the complex trade-offs between inventory and throughput, so you can achieve your goals and enjoy watching your customer service levels blow the bell curve.
